Three new PADI Open Water Divers – Lani, Tayla & Pa’u

PADI Open Water Diver Samoa

Congratulations!

It makes perfect sense when visiting Samoa to see the attractions under the water as well as the land and there is no better place to learn to dive! Aussie girls Lani and Tayla decided to do just that and after completing the Knowledge Development part of the PADI Open Water Diver course online, at their own pace and at home with PADI eLearning they were ready to jump in and start diving straight away. Our boat skipper, Pa’u has also taken to diving like the proverbial duck to water and he completed his final open water dive with Lani and Tayla. Congratulations to our latest PADI Open Water divers and all of us at Pure Ocean wish you many more great dives to come!

Humpback Whale sighting for lucky boat divers

Humpback Whale Samoa

What a journey!

They say it’s more the journey than the destination and this was certainly true when travelling to a dive site recently. On our way to The Rock, one of Pure Ocean’s top dive sites, we had a once in a lifetime encounter with a pod of three Humpback whales – we could have turned around and come home without having dived and still had smiles on our faces! September to November is whale watching season in the waters around Samoa, as the whales make their annual migration into the southern oceans. We were surprised to find them so close to land though; they kindly allowed us to get a birdseye view of them before it was time for us to go diving. An amazing experience for those on the boat and some very envious dive centre staff when they returned with the story!
